The Caledonia Oldtimers Hockey Association was established and played its first season in 2006.  Our Mission can be found on our About Us Page.

Who We Are

Our League is for Skaters that are 35 years and Older and Goalies that are 22 Years Old and Older.

We are an 8 team league, playing Monday's nights at the Caledonia (HCCC) Arena - Arena Location

Each Team will have a Team Representative that acts as liaison between our board of directors and the players in our league.

Each season, we draft new teams, to give our players a chance to meet new players in our league and community.  While our league is about getting on the ice for a skate, it is also very much about the social aspects.  There are a number of social activities throughout the course of the season, along with many who gather after our games each week for a little ribbing and great company.

For the Draft, players will be ranked by the executive and team reps. The players will be grouped according to their rank and position.  The Executive and Team Reps will hold a draft to select teams in a fair and equitable a manner, as best possible.

Each Team has 13 Skaters and a Goalie.  For the upcoming season, we will be drafting 8 Forwards and 5 D per Team.

We carry of a spares list of players and goalies of between 30-40 people, who fill in for teams when they are short players from their regular roster.

We are a member of CARHA, which fully insures our league.

 

Uniforms

We provide socks and jerseys for all our teams.  Jerseys are returned at the end of the season, while the socks are yours to keep.  By reusing our uniforms we get to keep costs down.

 

Type of League

If you are a looking for a competitive league, this is not the place for you.  This is for those who love, the game, want to get a sweat on and have a lot of fun doing it.  Our Mission statement (About Us) tells you all you need to know.  The league is full of solid players, but the time to go to the show has passed.  After all, we all get up to go to work the next morning (except maybe Peter and Irbe).

The season consists of

• 2 Weeks of Pre-Season games for evaluating players who are new to the league (not all players will play in these games)
• 21 Weeks of Regular Season Games
• 5 Weeks of Playoffs and Final Games

Games are two 16 Minute Periods, Stop Time

We CARHA rules, with some league specific rules sprinkled in.

 

Full Time Replacements

When players have to drop out (for various reasons,) we utilize our Spares List of Players to fill these spots.  When you sign up as a spare, you are also joining our wait list to offer players full time spots when players drop out due to injury or cannot play for other reasons.

 

What Happened to the Masters 50+ Division?

The Caledonia Oldtimers Hockey Association, their Executive and Team Representatives have put off the launching of the Masters 50+ Division for at least another season.   While there was some interest in getting this second division going, numbers were not quite strong enough to make it a go.  We will be monitoring interest as we move forward and will consider adding this division when we have secured enough interest from our existing players and those to or returning to the league.
