Registration and the Upcoming 2022-23 Season, News (Caledonia Old Timers Hockey)

Hello Everyone,  

Our Executive and Team Reps met this week to discuss takeaways from last season and the upcoming season.  We would like to provide you with the information below for dates when registration will be begin and other details regarding the upcoming season.  

We are looking forward to the upcoming season.  We do anticipate filling up this season, so please ensure you sign up as soon as you can.

Registration

• We will begin online registration on Friday July 22, 2022
• Registration will be Open to the Public (35 and Older for Skaters, 30 and Older to Goalies)
• There will be no window where only returning players may sign up and no spots will be held for returning players
• This is what our league was like prior to the reduction in the number of skaters per team from 15 to 13 and the pandemic impacted seasons

Fees

• The registration fee will be $450
• We have been at the previous rate of $415 for the last 3 years
• This rate is older than this though, just that there was an increase to the rate when we reduced the league to 13 skaters (same rate for the league, just more per player)
• Ice Increases over $20/hour for the upcoming season
• We operated at a deficit last season without buying new jerseys
• We will need to replace two sets of jerseys in the upcoming season
• Our goal would be to stay at $450 for a number of years to come as we try to avoid increases every year

Attendance:

• Players will be required to meet minimum attendance requirements:
• Players must play 4 out of the 1^st 10 Games
• The league will remove players from the league who do not meet these requirements
• Players must play 8 out of 21 games in order to qualify for the Playoffs
• Any player who has a confirmed, legitimate injury will be subject to consideration for exemption by the Executive
• These will be case by case situations
• Players are required to the use the TeamSnap Attendance App
• Failure to use this app may result in a player being removed from the league

Goalies: Goalies, please review the section in detail

• We will open 16 spots for goalies to sign up
• Registration is not first come first serve
• Goalies will be selected by the Executive and Teams Reps in August, early September
• Goalies will not need to pay registration fees upon signing up

COVID Considerations: Please review the section in detail

• While there are currently no COVID related restrictions to play in our league, will have to comply with all requirements put in place by the county, local public health, provincial government and, or federal government.
• These requirements are subject to change at any time during the season and our league has not choice but to abide by any changes these bodies put in place
• This could include the requirement of vaccination in order to play
• No refunds will be issued to unvaccinated player who have to withdraw from the league, if one of these bodies mandate vaccination as a requirement to play part way through the season.

Spares

• We will look to refine the rules prior to the start of the season
• Spares will need to pay $30 to sign up to the list
• This will cover insurance and other costs to the league for spares

Referees

• We will look to have two referees per game for the upcoming season
